South Carolina stuns the Swamp
South Carolina walked into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium carrying an eight-game losing streak in SEC play and walked out with a 38-19 win over No. 16 Florida. LaNorris Sellers threw four touchdown passes and ran for a fifth score, his best outing since a five-touchdown game against Missouri in November 2024. South Carolina improved to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the SEC. Florida fell to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Bailey Stockton opened the scoring with a 59-yard touchdown catch from Aaron Philo, and Nyck Harbor answered for South Carolina on a 15-yard score from Sellers to tie it at the end of the first quarter. Field goals from both sides and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Mazeo Bennett Jr. put the Gamecocks up 17-10 at halftime, which was stretched by a 45-minute lightning delay before the second half.
Sellers spreads it around
Sellers finished 23 of 35 for 279 yards and found four different receivers for touchdowns: Harbor, Bennett, Donovan Murph on a 26-yard throw, and Lex Cyrus on a 21-yarder. He added the fifth touchdown himself on a 1-yard run in the third quarter that put South Carolina up 31-13. Matt Fuller led the run game with 52 yards on 10 carries, and Peyton Williams topped the defense with seven tackles.
Florida's day falls apart
Florida had its own answers early. Philo threw for 227 yards and a touchdown, Jadan Baugh ran for 59 yards and a late score, and Stockton caught eight passes for 127 yards. But the Gators turned the ball over three times and missed a long field goal before halftime. Coach Jon Sumrall was booed by the home crowd, with fans unhappy about how he managed the clock late in the first half.
South Carolina defensive end Dylan Stewart made his presence felt in his return from a one-game suspension, forcing two fumbles.
What it means
South Carolina had not won in Gainesville since 2014 and had not won an SEC game since beating Kentucky in September 2025. This one ends that stretch. Florida, already coming off a lopsided loss at Missouri, now has back-to-back defeats by wide margins. South Carolina sits at 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the SEC. Florida falls to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
