Dameon Pierce's Eagles debut was 14 yards on 11 carries in a loss to the Jaguars
Pierce made his Eagles and regular season debut in a 19-17 loss to the Jaguars, finishing with 13 touches for 14 rushing yards after Will Shipley left with a foot injury.
A quiet debut in a game that's already final
Dameon Pierce is trending because he just made two debuts at once, his first game in an Eagles uniform and his first regular season appearance of 2026, and the stat line was not pretty. Pierce carried the ball 11 times for 14 yards and added two catches that netted negative yardage, 13 touches total. Philadelphia lost that one 19-17 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. That game is done. This is not a preview, it already happened.
Pierce was elevated for the week, which is why he was active at all. Nobody was expecting him to be the headline name out of that backfield going in.
Why he was even out there
Pierce ended up playing a bigger role than planned once Eagles running back Will Shipley left the game early with a foot injury. That put more of the workload on Pierce against a Jacksonville defense that had already made things difficult for opposing runners that day, and he never found room to work. Fourteen yards on 11 carries is the kind of number that shows up when a tough matchup and an unplanned workload hit at the same time.
The backfield picture going forward
The bigger story in Philadelphia's backfield is who else is coming back, not how Pierce's one game went. Saquon Barkley could return for Week 6, which would likely push Pierce back down the depth chart after his turn as the emergency option. Nothing about this points to any issue with Pierce's own health. His week was about touches and matchup, not an injury of his own.
Where that leaves fantasy managers
That debut is also why Pierce showed up in Sports Illustrated's Week 6 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em breakdown, weighed against Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum. Corum had his best fantasy outing of the season in Week 5, five carries for 19 yards and a touchdown plus three catches for 53 yards, but he is still playing under 30 percent of the Rams' offensive snaps in four of his five games this season. Pierce, coming off a 13-touch debut that produced 14 rushing yards and no positive receiving yards, in a backfield that may get Barkley back, reads like a bench option for most fantasy lineups this week.
