Szmyt's 37-yarder beats the clock

The Cleveland Browns beat the Baltimore Ravens 13-10 on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field, with Andre Szmyt knocking through a 37-yard field goal as time expired. Cleveland trailed 10-0 early and had just 107 yards through three quarters before the offense found a gear in the fourth.

Szmyt had already missed from 48 yards a few minutes earlier. The Ravens blocked his first attempt to win it, but Baltimore was flagged for offside, and Szmyt got a second try from five yards closer. He put it down the middle.

The turning point came when linebacker Carson Schwesinger knocked the ball loose from Derrick Henry, and defensive back Tyson Campbell recovered it at the Baltimore 35-yard line. "The ball is oxygen," Schwesinger said. That takeaway set up Cleveland's comeback, which also handed a win to coach Todd Monken over the team he coordinated for three seasons before taking the Browns job.

A back-and-forth scoreboard

Baltimore scored first and scored fast. Tyler Huntley hit Josh Cuevas for a 2-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and Tyler Loop added a 34-yard field goal to make it 10-0 before the first quarter was over.

Cleveland didn't answer until the third quarter, when Szmyt connected from 48 yards to cut it to 10-3. The Browns tied it in the fourth on Audric Estime's 2-yard touchdown run, with Szmyt's extra point making it 10-10. Szmyt's game-winner came on the final play.

Watson gets just enough, Henry's fumble costs Baltimore

Deshaun Watson completed 16 of 26 passes for 164 yards, including a 33-yard connection with Jerry Jeudy that set up the winning kick. Jeudy finished with four catches for 69 yards, and Jaleel McLaughlin led Cleveland's run game with 41 yards on nine carries.

Tyler Huntley threw for 165 yards and a touchdown on 19-of-31 passing for Baltimore, which played without Lamar Jackson for a second straight game as he deals with an ankle injury. Derrick Henry carried 17 times for 58 yards before the fumble, and Zay Flowers caught six passes for 66 yards.

The teams were close to even on paper. Cleveland had 237 total yards to Baltimore's 235, and 14 first downs to the Ravens' 13. The Browns committed zero turnovers to the Ravens' one, which turned out to be the difference. Carson Schwesinger led all tacklers with 13.

Injuries and the standings

The win pulled Cleveland (4-2) into a tie with Baltimore and Pittsburgh atop the AFC North. On the injury front, the Browns list Justin Jefferson as questionable with a hip issue and Grant Delpit as questionable with a concussion, while Taylen Green is out for a coach's decision and Mason Graham is out with a knee MCL sprain.

Baltimore (4-2) has Rashod Bateman questionable with a shoulder injury. Andrew Vorhees, Elijah Sarratt and K'Von Wallace are all out, with Vorhees dealing with a foot injury and the other two held out by coach's decision.
