NFL inactives today: Jackson, Taylor, Downs playing

Lamar Jackson is active for Baltimore after his ankle injury, and Jonathan Taylor and Josh Downs are playing for Indianapolis in Week 8.

Jackson and the Colts duo clear the inactive list

NFL inactives today is one of the most searched terms of the Sunday morning window, and the clearest answer so far is that Lamar Jackson is not on anyone's inactive list. Jackson is back from his ankle injury and active for the Baltimore Ravens (4-3), who face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills (5-1) in Sunday's early window.

The other names fans are checking on are also active. Running back Jonathan Taylor and receiver Josh Downs are both in action for the Indianapolis Colts (2-5) at the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2), even with trade buzz hanging over the Colts this week. Both players suiting up settles the inactives question for that game before any trade report does, at least for Sunday's early games.

Vikings-Lions keeps the NFC North on alert

The 6-0 Minnesota Vikings are on the road to face the 4-2 Detroit Lions in what counts as a key NFC North matchup in Week 8. Sixteen teams are in action during Sunday's early window, and a Vikings team that has not lost yet traveling into a tough division game is one of the matchups pulling eyes to who is and is not on the field for it.

Week 8 sits inside a record international slate

This season's international slate is already well underway. The league is playing a record nine international games across seven countries and four continents in 2026, and six of those nine have been played already. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 in Melbourne, the Baltimore Ravens edged the Dallas Cowboys 34-31 in Rio de Janeiro, three games were played in London including a tight finish between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New Orleans Saints in Paris in Week 7.

Madrid, Munich and Mexico City are still on the calendar for later in the season. That also means early-morning kickoffs for fans watching from the United States, a wrinkle that comes with the league's global expansion. That global schedule is part of why the league's full slate of games, and who is active or inactive for each one, keeps drawing heavy search traffic week to week.

What we don't know yet

What is not available yet is a full, team-by-team inactive list for every Week 8 game. What is confirmed is that Jackson, Taylor and Downs are playing, which rules out three of the names drawing the most attention this week. Lineups for the rest of the early window games are still being worked out as the day goes on.

The late afternoon window and Sunday Night Football have not kicked off yet. More of the picture on who is active and who is not will fill in as those games get closer to kickoff, so the search volume on this term is likely to keep climbing through the afternoon.
