Jacoby Brissett trade sends him to the Ravens
The Cardinals are finalizing a trade that sends quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Ravens, who could start him as soon as Week 10.
Why the Jacoby Brissett trade is trending
Jacoby Brissett trade talks have turned into a deal that sends him to the Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Cardinals are finalizing the move now.
Arizona had benched Brissett before working out the trade, and what the Cardinals get back is still listed as TBD. Baltimore needed quarterback depth, and Brissett's first start under center for the Ravens could come as soon as Week 10, when Baltimore hosts the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
The trade is expected to be completed this weekend, ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline at 4 p.m. ET. Compensation heading back to Arizona hasn't been announced yet.
Jeffery Simmons already changed hands for two first-round picks
The other name in this trade deadline stretch is Jeffery Simmons, and his move happened first. On Oct. 29, the Titans sent the All-Pro defensive tackle to the Bears for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick. Chicago sent back a 2028 fifth-round pick as part of the same trade.
Simmons is 29 and signed a three-year, $105.8 million extension with $100 million guaranteed with the Titans back in June. He's now under contract through the 2030 season, just with a different team holding that deal.
Eight trades are already in the book before the deadline hits
The Nov. 10 deadline at 4 p.m. ET hasn't arrived yet, and the Brissett and Simmons deals are just two of eight trades ESPN has tracked this cycle. The Colts cleared out two veteran linemen in the span of two days. On Oct. 27, Indianapolis sent three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers, the team that drafted him in the first round in 2016 before trading him to the Colts in 2020, for a 2027 fourth-round pick. The Colts also agreed to send eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Beyond Indianapolis, the Giants traded for Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, the Steelers sent Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys, the Eagles sent center Cam Jurgens to the Ravens, and the Texans added wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
ESPN's own writers are already picking the moves apart. The questions on the table: whether the Bears gave up too much for Simmons, and whether the 49ers stop at Buckner or keep adding pieces up front.
What happens before the deadline closes
Both the Brissett and Simmons trades show teams moving proven veterans for picks or a better fit with the deadline closing in. ESPN says it's tracking every in-season move and trade-related buzz right through the deadline, with each new deal added to the top of the list as it's confirmed. For now, the Cardinals-Ravens trade is the most recent domino, with Brissett expected to be under center in Baltimore within days.
