Why Jackson Chourio is trending

Jackson Chourio is trending because he did not wait around to get started. He saw one pitch in Game 2 of the NLCS against the Dodgers and put it over the fence, handing Milwaukee an early lead before most fans had settled into their seats.

It is the kind of swing that gets clipped and replayed all night, a leadoff shot on the first pitch of a postseason game. The Brewers went on to win that game 7-4, so the early jump mattered.

How the rest of the game played out

Chourio's homer got Milwaukee on the board first, but the Dodgers answered back and the game tightened up. William Contreras tied it with a solo home run of his own, then came through again with an RBI single that put the Brewers back on top, 5-4.

From there Milwaukee tacked on more. Brice Turang and Jake Bauers drove in runs in the eighth inning to stretch the lead out to 7-4, which is where the scoring stopped. A game that started with one swing from Chourio ended with a full lineup pitching in.

What it means for the series

The win pushed the Brewers to a 2-0 lead over the Dodgers in the NLCS. Christian Yelich spoke to the scale of the win afterward, and Contreras talked about his part in it, but the headline swing of the night belonged to Chourio.

None of this is a betting conversation. It is just a young player making an immediate impact in a big spot, and a Brewers team that has now won the first two games of this series against a Dodgers club that is used to being on the other side of that.
