Football Jaguars injury update November 2, 2026 By Dennis Hendrickson

DaVon Hamilton out for season with torn quad

DaVon Hamilton is expected to miss the rest of the season after tearing his quad in the Jaguars' 42-7 win over the Colts, sources say.

DaVon Hamilton tears his quad, likely done for the year

DaVon Hamilton is likely out for the rest of the season after tearing his quadriceps, league sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Jaguars nose tackle got hurt in the second quarter of Jacksonville's 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at EverBank Stadium.

Hamilton was surrounded by teammates while he lay on the field, then was taken to the locker room on a cart. He was set to undergo further tests Monday. There is no word yet on surgery or on a timetable for next season.

Why losing Hamilton hurts

Hamilton has been the anchor of a Jaguars run defense that coach Liam Coen and several teammates have called the best in the league this season. Through seven games, he has 16 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a half sack.

Coen talked about Hamilton's standing in the locker room after Sunday's win, saying "there's not many better humans, better competitors, team guys." The coach pointed to Hamilton's week of practice before the game and his leadership with the rest of the defensive line.

Even hurt on the field, Coen said Hamilton was reassuring him and smiling. "He trusts God. He trusts himself. He trusts life," Coen said.

The contract and the context

Hamilton is in the final season of the three-year, $34.5 million contract extension he signed with Jacksonville in April 2023. The injury came in the same game the Jaguars used to deliver big plays on both sides of the ball, routing the rebuilding Colts 42-7.

Losing Hamilton for the season is a real blow to a defensive front that has leaned on him as its identity piece, even with Jacksonville pulling away comfortably against Indianapolis. The Jaguars have not named a timetable for his return next year.

What we don't know yet

Jacksonville has not released an official statement or confirmed the specifics of any surgery or recovery timeline for Hamilton. Further tests were scheduled for Monday, and nothing beyond "likely out for the season" has been reported. An update is expected once the team's medical staff finishes evaluating him this week.
