Davante Adams out 6 to 10 weeks with torn hamstring, Rams say

Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Davante Adams will need 6 to 10 weeks to recover from a torn hamstring suffered in the Rams' 18-16 loss to the Cardinals, one of several injuries hitting the roster.

Why Davante Adams is out 6 to 10 weeks

Davante Adams is out 6 to 10 weeks for the Rams with a torn hamstring, coach Sean McVay said Monday. The injury happened late in the fourth quarter of the Rams' 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, as Adams ran a route into the end zone. McVay described it as a ruptured semitendinosus. Adams is set to have surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a source told ESPN. He hopes to return on the early end of that window, as close to the Rams' post-Week-11 bye as he can manage.

Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, has been Los Angeles' top target alongside Puka Nacua this season. In six games he caught 30 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns. Without him, the Rams lean on a receiver room of Nacua, Konata Mumpfield, Jordan Whittington, Tutu Atwell, CJ Daniels and Alex Bachman. McVay said the team will discuss whether to add a receiver to the roster while Adams is sidelined.

A rough Monday injury report for the Rams

Adams was not the only injury news out of McVay's Monday press conference. Nose tackle Poona Ford will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured triceps. Defensive tackle Kobie Turner is expected to miss a handful of weeks with a groin injury, and McVay said the team will likely place him on injured reserve, a move that would cost him at least four games.

Kicker Blake Grupe, whom the Rams placed on injured reserve Monday, tore his ACL. Los Angeles has not made a corresponding move at kicker, though McVay said the team is working on options. Pass rusher Myles Garrett, who had knee surgery in mid-September, will not return to practice this week either, and has already missed five games. Cornerback Trent McDuffie, who sat out Sunday after hurting his groin in practice the week before, is progressing, McVay said. McVay added McDuffie is feeling much better and the team hopes to determine his status for this week by the weekend.

The loss that preceded the injuries

The injuries piled up in the aftermath of a tight loss. Arizona beat Los Angeles 18-16 on Chad Ryland's field goal as time expired, his sixth of the game. The Rams had entered the season as 5-1 Super Bowl favorites at DraftKings, according to ESPN Research. After Sunday's loss, those odds dropped to 10-1 before moving to 12-1.

What comes next for the Rams

McVay said the team is sorting through roster options at receiver and kicker this week. For Adams, the target window points toward a return near the Week 11 bye, though the team has given no firm date beyond the 6 to 10 week range. Turner's move toward injured reserve and Grupe's placement on IR are already in motion, with McDuffie's status for this week expected to firm up by the weekend.
