Browns pull it out late again

The Cleveland Browns beat the Tennessee Titans 27-24 on Sunday at Nissan Stadium, with Andre Szmyt's 32-yard field goal as time expired settling it. The winning drive was set up by a 36-yard gain from Deshaun Watson to Harold Fannin Jr., coming right after Tennessee had tied the game at 24-24 with 58 seconds left.

Watson finished 25 of 36 for 308 yards and also ran for a touchdown. Quinshon Judkins carried 17 times for 96 yards and two scores, and rookie receiver KC Concepcion caught eight passes for 129 yards, his best game yet.

Pollard gave Tennessee a 14-0 lead early

Tony Pollard opened the game with two rushing touchdowns, a 36-yarder and a 10-yarder, both in the first quarter, putting the Titans ahead 14-0. Pollard finished with 129 yards on 25 carries and added a third touchdown late, tying his career high.

Cleveland answered before halftime, with Judkins scoring from 5 and 6 yards out to tie it at 14, then Szmyt kicking a 28-yard field goal right before the half for a 17-14 Browns lead. Tennessee missed a chance to extend its lead in the second quarter when Pollard was ruled down just short of the end zone, and Cleveland's defense stopped him on fourth-and-goal to take over on downs.

Four scores in the final period

Tennessee's Joey Slye kicked a 29-yard field goal to tie the game at 17 with 8:41 left, after Szmyt had missed a 43-yard attempt earlier in the quarter. Watson answered with a 9-yard touchdown run at the 4:34 mark to put Cleveland back ahead 24-17.

Pollard tied it again with a 1-yard touchdown run with 58 seconds remaining, his third score of the day, and Slye's extra point made it 24-24. That set up the Browns' final possession, capped by Szmyt's 32-yard field goal on the last play of the game.

Browns keep winning close ones, Titans still searching

The win is Cleveland's fifth in six games, and Watson has now led five game winning drives in the fourth quarter this season. The Browns improved to 5-2 and opened a three-game road trip with the win. Cleveland outgained Tennessee 491 yards to 322 and held a 26-18 edge in first downs, though each team turned the ball over twice.

Tennessee fell to 1-6 and has not won back-to-back games in nearly four years. The Titans had their best start of the season by building that early 14-0 lead but could not hold it. Cam Ward threw for 181 yards with an interception, and Carnell Tate led the receivers with 69 yards on five catches.
